Jamb Cut Off Mark for Delta State School of Marine Technology Burutu

Candidates who made the Delta State School of Marine Technology their first choice for UTME and had a minimum score of 120 can proceed to apply for Post UTME.

This places DESOMATECH's effective entry threshold around 120, slightly above the national JAMB minimum of 100 set for polytechnics generally. As with most polytechnic admissions, meeting this score qualifies you to apply — your final placement depends on departmental competition and your performance during the aptitude test stage for ND applicants.

DESOMATECH ND Courses 2026/2027

DESOMATECH offers ND programmes including Marine Engineering Technology, Boat and Ship Building Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Oil and Gas Engineering Technology, and Nautical Science and Seamanship. Nautical Science and Seamanship is available only at the Burutu campus.

Beyond the engineering and maritime-specific programmes, DESOMATECH also runs Business Management Technology options, which are available across the institution's campuses, distinct from the maritime-focused engineering programmes.

DESOMATECH Aptitude Test — Who Needs It and Where

An aptitude test is necessary for applicants intending to undertake ND programmes. However, aptitude test is not necessary for applicants intending to undertake the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.

Below are centres for the aptitude test: Delta State School of Marine Technology, Burutu; College of Education, Warri; Delta State School of Marine Technology, Kwale Campus by Utagba-Ogbe Technical College; and Delta State School of Marine Technology, Gbaregolor Campus. Candidates should present their printed copy of acknowledgement slip to their respective test centres, and the aptitude test date will be communicated.

If you are applying for HND, you can skip this section entirely — there is no aptitude test in your admission process.

Is DESOMATECH a Navy School?

No, DESOMATECH is not a Nigerian Navy school. It is a Delta State Government-owned institution focused on marine technology, engineering, and nautical training. The "cadet" terminology and regimental training component that appear in its fee structure reflect the maritime industry's tradition of discipline-based training for seafarers and marine engineers — similar to how maritime academies worldwide incorporate structured cadet training — but this does not mean DESOMATECH is affiliated with or operated by the Nigerian Navy.

Candidates interested specifically in Nigerian Navy training programmes should look at the Nigerian Navy's own recruitment and training institutions, which are entirely separate from DESOMATECH.

Is Delta State Maritime Polytechnic Accredited?

Yes. DESOMATECH is accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). This accreditation covers its ND programmes and is the standard accrediting body for polytechnics and similar technical institutions across Nigeria. NBTE accreditation means certificates awarded by DESOMATECH are recognised for further education (including HND progression) and for employment purposes across Nigeria.

DESOMATECH School Fees 2026/2027

Authorities of DESOMATECH have published the fees payable by fresh ND1 and HND1 students. For Engineering Technology, Science and Technology, Industrial Safety, and Maritime Transport options, one fee structure applies, while for all Business Management Technology options excluding Maritime Transport, Deltans pay N42,500 and Non-Deltans pay N57,500.

Additional compulsory charges include: - Cadet Regimental Training, Uniforms and Kit: N30,000 - Accommodation is compulsory for all ND1 and HND1 students, alongside a medical fee, both paid directly to the institution's designated bank account.

These fees apply specifically to fresh students. Confirm the exact engineering/science track fee figure and the full breakdown for your specific programme directly on the portal during registration, as the published schedule covers multiple categories.

Where Is DESOMATECH Located?

The Delta State School of Marine Technology, Burutu, is an institution with multi-campuses at Gbaregolor and Kwale, in addition to its main location in Burutu, Delta State. The College of Education, Warri, also serves as an aptitude test centre for DESOMATECH candidates, even though it is not a DESOMATECH campus itself.

Burutu is a riverine town in Delta State, which fits naturally with the institution's focus on marine engineering, boat and ship building, and nautical science — students benefit from proximity to the waterways that form the core of their training environment.

DESOMATECH HND Admission Form 2026/2027

For HND admission, candidates should satisfy all requirements for ND admission, possess a National Diploma in a relevant course from DESOMATECH or another recognized institution with a CGPA of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit), and provide a letter of completion of compulsory industrial training or evidence of one year work experience. In exceptional cases, an ND with a Pass (2.00 to 2.49) may be accepted, with such candidates undergoing a one-year Pre-HND programme. Candidates should also request that their previous school forwards their transcripts to DESOMATECH under confidential cover.

HND applicants follow the same portal process as ND applicants but pay the higher N25,000 fee and skip the aptitude test entirely.

What Happens After You Apply

After submitting your application and paying the appropriate fee, ND applicants await communication of their aptitude test date and centre via SMS, while HND applicants proceed directly toward the admission list stage. DESOMATECH publishes provisional admission lists for candidates offered admission into its ND and HND programmes after the screening process concludes.

With the 30th June 2026 closing date approaching, do not delay. Click here to register for full support through your application, payment, and aptitude test preparation.
